So, you bought that io ....weldone....

I do not have these parts but just for info, is it the side base of the seat that is damaged ?

Happy io

New IO Owner indeed

New IO Owner indeed haha

Its a 2001 with 190Km's, bit rough but got it for $3600 with 5 months rego.

The seat is torn but feels pretty well worn with a tear on the side (seen its a common thing).

Overall summary on the car:

Body is a little rough with faded paint (doesnt really worry me too much) as long as its straight enough.

Ignition barrel or key is a bit worn as my key is hardly working.

Engine light is showing at low revs

mechanic mate noted there is a small misfire but a throttle body clean may fix?

Other then that just needs a good clean, is due to a shop in Blacktown soon to get overhauled if they deem worthwhile.

Cheers,

Dougs

seat and parts

If the seat is damaged at the base (not the back) try to find a passager seat, why passager ??? ....b ecause they can be cheaper at the wrecker as every one wants the driver seat. You can swap the base from passager to driver. The base is holding on the frame of the seat with 4 bolt under it.....3 min swap.

For your key....WD40 or similar first sometime helps. I have a spare complete ignition barrel if needed.

The misfire can be a few thing, sometime ignition related, plug, lead, coil....

When you turn the key to

When you turn the key to start it, do you lose all dash lights, stereo power etc?

Thats what mine was doing when I purchased it (shame I didn't realise the issue, mightve got it cheaper).

Anyway, my fix was (well my suggestion, the old man did all the work) wiring push button start up to the starter motor. Now my setup is: turn key to reds, push button and away she goes, good as gold. I belive it's something to do with a worn barrel and a voltage drop. Big pajs can/do have the same issue (which is where I got my solution from).

As for towbar,I may have one available, where are you from? Long story short I bought a 3 door wreck w towbar, had all intentions of putting tbar on my 3dr, then went and bought a broken 5 door. Am still driving my original 3 dr, hanging onto tbar for now in case 5 door doesn't work out.

Will hopefully find out within a couple weeks if 5dr is alright, then tbar will be for sale (as will 3dr but that's another topic).

Also cheers for the ignition

Also cheers for the ignition advice, i think im having a different issue the mechanism just feels really stiff so and struggling to get the key out to turn the car off. Going to spray Inox in there and hopefully that will loosen it up a bit. The whole car needs a lubricating i think haha having issues with most locks but long weekend ahead so looking forward to tinkering.

Would be keen for any other parts available too.

parts

I do not have the other parts that you requested in the first thread but I also have the front lock if needed. This said, more than often, a good lub is all is needed.

Enjoy your week end, always good to "bond" with the car.

What colour is your io? I do

What colour is your io? I do have a wreck but it's white. You mentioned Clear coat peel/fade so assuming a darker colour.

Anyway, might be able to help you out with a seat, I'll have to check out condition this weekend. Unfortunately previous owner of the wreck seems to have been a chain smoker and car stinks so seat would need a good clean. Depends where you are though, I would prefer to not go freighting things. I'm at Maitland nsw but can get stuff to newcastle as I usually work there at least once a week.

Yep, too many io's lol. 3 all up including wreck. It's a bit of an obsession tbh. Still got Lancer wrecks on my parents' property from when I drove a Lancer (my partner still has a Lancer though so it's kinda justified, but now I'm just waffling on!)

Anyway, I'll let you know as soon as I can about the towbar. If you find one in the mean time, I'll just chuck in on the for sale section.

Sorry it's been a while.

Sorry it's been a while.

Dtron, were you still interested in the towbar and drivers seat? The towbar is now available as the 3 door is for sale (Gotta put an add up later).

I'm really not sure what price to ask for the towbar as I've never seen one for sale before. Maybe one of the more senior members could suggest an approximate price?

The seat, I'd say $40. Seat looks to be in decent condition, one small rough patch I can find but can't find any tears or holes. I'll try and upload some pics later (don't seem to be able to do it on my phone).

Cheers,

Izzy

Sorry, I wrote up a reply

Sorry, I wrote up a reply saturday night and thought I sent it. It seems I didn't.

Anyway, here are some pics of the seat.

Pic of wear mark

Whole seat (needs a good clean)

Front of seat

Inner side

Inner side (stitching is a bit worn, didn't notice that before)

Outer side

It's ok if you don't want it, still have the whole damn car, so not like its taking up any extra space.

As for the towbar, I've honestly never seen a secondhand one for sale, but the closest match to mine in a new one is $520 off ebay, so I'm thinking around the $250 mark but willing to negotiate :) Its a Hayman Reese hitch type and comes with the towball. I'll most likely be visiting my parents again this weekend so I can get some pics of that as wel if you like (didn't think to do it when I got pics of the seat).

cheers,

I'd really rather not post, I

I'd really rather not post, I imagine it would cost a fortune. As I said, I'm open to negotiation on price. Would you be willing to meet me at Gosford?
