Hi Fellow iO Owners,

I recently bought myself a '99 2dr Manual 1.6L. Got it pretty cheap so I expected a few things to need fixing. First off I had to do the front brakes (not a problem) and then fix a rear engine seal that was leaking (also not a problem) but when taking out the gearbox and inspecting it I noticed the oil in the transfer case was old / grey / and sludgy. Upon further inspection, I also noticed largeish chunks of metal in the bottom of it. Not a good sign!

Just wondering if anyone has one available to sell or can put me in contact with someone that can organise a replacement? I don't mind if it's second hand or reconditioned. I also don't mind if it has to come with the gearbox. I've tried a heap of wreckers around town, as well as gearbox and diff places but no luck yet. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm located in Brisbane QLD.

Cheers,

Chris.

T/C

It might be hard to find one for the 1.6 litre. I would give it an oil change and give it a try, it might be ok...at least for a while. Pieces of metal are never a good sign but it doesn't always mean it is dead.

You could also try to get yours reconditioned.

T/C

That car used to belong to one of the forum member, from memory, it does have a 1.6 litre engine and the T/C may still be one the car.....
